Second blog post, here we go :3
I'm still getting the hang of updating and engaging with my website, i feel like publishing the actual HTML files that i work on for the website to the public is the bigger challenge LOL's
Recently on the 2nd of August it was world HTML day! I had a bunch of fun attending the online event organised by Zachary Kai (Link to his site) and it was great working with like minded people!
From attending this event I've found out about the indie web and it has sort of opened my eyes, so to say, for things I can share on my site
What I mean by that is sort of like, well as you can see my site is very much things i like and things i create but i don't really talk much (you can tell by this being the 2nd blogpost with this site being up for so long)
On an old site I made to showcase my senior year portfolio for highschool, under my interests i talked about how i have a fondness for the 2000's and 2010s and i mentioned the concept of 'third spaces'.
In that old portfolio I talked about the things i am passionate about advocating which i will leave to talk about at a later date, right now the main topic of conversation is third spaces.
First off, what are third spaces. Third spaces are locations were people can come together, socialize and build a community so for example places like libraries, cafes, and parks. What a third place isn't, is your home or school or workplace. Your home is a first place and your school/workplace is a second place
I believe that these type of places are important to have, especially for younger people in the high school age. If we think about young people in the media, the age range of 13-17 isn't really represented by anything which in turn, you have these young people seeing media that targets towards young adults and they base themselves off the belief that they need to be acting a certain way. I may sound a bit detached from reality but even walking around the shops and what i saw when i was in my final year of high school is that a lot of these kids are in a rush to act older than they are which, obviously young people wanting to act grown to, so to say, feel independant isnt a new concept but the fact that compared to a couple years ago there is no represention of the preteen sort of age range so young people just jump past that and feel as if they need to act a lot older than usual.
I could talk more in depth about this topic but i defintley would need to do some more indepth research again as most of this is just coming fresh of the dome
thank you for reading and visiting my site!
